American floorplans work extremely well in NZ. Why?
Firstly, because the slide-out room is on the footpath side of the road, if you do stop roadside while travelling, you can still ultilize your slide-out room over the grass verge or bank. Unlike reverse floorplans where you cannot put the slide-out towards the road because of vehicle traffic.
This is even the case in a layby as you cannot block vehicle access unless you run the risk of someone hitting your slide-out. On the off-chance you do stop roadside with your Springdale 5th wheel, then it's just the drivers door, you don't get in/out while cars are coming. Below, Karen shows how easy it is getting in/out, even without the fold out steps down. It still has a ladder step.
Secondly, many NZ homes have their driveways on their RHS so when reversing your Springdale 5th Wheel, next to your house, you have direct access for loading/unloading your trailer.
I suppose there are pro's & con's for both layouts however in NZ there are no regulations and there's no advantage of having a reverse floorplan, rather disadvantages because of where you can't use it.
Speak to any owner of an American RV and get the truthful facts of how they find their floorplan suits NZ conditions. Most encounter very few issues.
So when you hear our oppositions salesman say,
"We have the NZ floorplan with the door on the correct side"
There is no legal requirement or correct side!
and/or
"You can make a cup of tea when travelling
with the slide-out in"
You can do the same in a Springdale but...
Why would you consider buying a 5th wheel with a slide-out you can't use half the time? It just doesn't make sense!
