You can buy and use your chosen truck for your USA road trip then upon completing your travels and your truck being in good condition, return it to our supplier and he will do a buy-back of around 65% to 75% of your original purchase price. There is a great choice of reliable trucks including Dodge Rams & Ford F250's.
Best of all we provide this service free of cost to our customers. You buy your Springdale in NZ and that price covers everything from shipping to NZ, customs and gst and full NZ conversion upon landing in Auckland. We then hand it back to you, ready to go travelling in NZ. We can also help you arrange your compulsory USA vehicle insurance in Los Angeles. You must pay CA sales tax & CA registration fees for your Springdale which is approx. US$2500 extra.
This travel option gives you the opportunity to travel the USA with fixed costs and without the hassle of having to find, buy, fit-out & then sell a tow vehicle in the USA. On top of you buying a tow vehicle is the purchase & fitting of the truck hitch & brake controller which can easily amount up to several thousand dollars. You could quite easily end up loosing a lot more money than the 25% to 35% depreciation on the truck & still having the problems of selling your truck prior to departing the USA.
If you decide to buy a truck & ship it to NZ along with your Springdale trailer, then we can even help you with those shipping & customs arrangements but remember RHD conversions can be an expensive exercise with most USA truck conversions now costing around NZ$25k+gst.
This will also bring your capital outlay for an American truck & new Springdale to around NZ$200k including shipping, NZ conversion on both with NZ on-road-costs. Many USA travelers will consider buying a NZ ute upon returning home for towing their Springdale 5th Wheel, or they already have one suitable. Around $45k buys a new Nissan Navara or Holden Colorado.
